3 things every Contractor should know about Equipment Restoration Specialists

3 things every Contractor should know about Equipment Restoration Specialists

with No Comments

  1. Most of the recovery processing the vendors provide could be performed better and less expensive by your most experienced general contents cleaning Technicians. The “advanced technology” recovery processing the vendor’s promote is rarely used (< 5% of the units they service).  Why not learn how to identify the 95% to keep in-house and only outsource the 5% that require specialized processing?
  2. The proprietary methods and “advanced technologies” that are actually utilized by the vendor when they service the 5% of equipment that warrant specialized processing are NOT approved by OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). In fact, most OEMs specifically refuse to accept and/or sanction “wet” processing of their equipment and will VOID any existing warranties.
  3. The warranties offered by the Vendors aren’t worth the paper they’re written on. Review the small print carefully, and you’ll clearly see that it doesn’t guarantee anything enforceable.  Are you confident that they are able to step-up and make it right when things go wrong?

Lessons BURNED:

Restoring MOST residential and small commercial equipment assets is not rocket science.  While it may be appealing for a contractor to simplify a project by subcontracting the “Hi-Tech” work out, some don’t take the time to adequately gauge the RISK verses REWARD of vendor engagement.

It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

If you’ve done more than a few dozen projects you’ve already felt the pain and have learned to move beyond blind-faith.  You’ve learned to retain control of ALL aspects of the recovery process – especially on projects with Hi-Tech equipment.  For those that have yet to feel the pain or want to learn how to prevent Hi-Tech projects from blowing-up in your face and/or boost the operational capacity of your contents specialists reach-out to us or simply STAY TUNED and learn.
